Alaska – I am in Love

Alaska was everything I’d hoped.  The mystery man? not so much. Spent a few days in Wasilla with him and then headed off down to the Kenai Peninsula to stay with Elmer at his fixer upper property.  Its a long drive (over 200 miles). And again I am reminded of how large Alaska is; most do not realize how HUGE Alaska really is; its way bigger than Texas, even!

We pass through the famous Turnagain Arm Pass and begin a climb into the Chugach mountains. I am in awe of the beauty that surrounds me at every turn, and I can’t wait to make this state my home. I shall never tire of all this wild awesomeness-the mountains and greenery, the snow, the smell of pine, salt air off the ocean…THE OCEAN! 💜

We pass through several small communities before arriving at Elmer’s sprawling plantation in the NorthRoad territory. Lol He has a couple of acres with a fixer upper, a trailer and some small shacks/outbuildings.

Everyday is a new place to visit. I got to see some of the properties I’d only seen online. Went to the World famous Homer Spit

And got to do some fishing

Soon those clouds were surrounding us and we were sitting in rain before it was time to call it another day. Time passed waaay too quickly and before I had left Alaska, I had already decided that I would return within 6 months. I didn’t know how it was going to work out, but I knew it would.

Too soon my visit was coming to a close; I saw this double rainbow on my way back to Anchorage and knew things were going to work out just right.

It was a tearful good-bye at the airport, and I vowed to get back to Alaska as quick as humanly possible.

I have a lot of stuff to accomplish….I had a red eye flight. This was the sun rising over the clouds
